Dan Lieberman is new to the Pacific Northwest, but once you learn his story, you'll understand why he belongs among our mission-driven community of creatives and marketers. As Head of Content and founder of Storycast Productions, he's built his career around telling the stories that get overlooked and underreported.

Storycast is a different kind of agency. Instead of flashy campaign work, the fractional editorial content studio helps mission-driven organizations, startups, and companies tell their stories through a journalism lens. It's a mission Dan has carried since he was fifteen years old, when he first fell in love with hearing people's stories and making sure their voices got heard. He's been chasing that same instinct ever since, most recently on a ten minute documentary for the ACLU examining Louisiana v. Callais, the Supreme Court decision that weakened Voting Rights Act protections for Black Americans. Spend even a few minutes with Dan and his enthusiasm for the craft comes through immediately.

Every member of the Storycast team is a working journalist, and that's what sets them apart from a traditional content studio. Dan saw a gap forming as media consumption shifted: individuals were earning more audience trust than many legacy news outlets. His goal became giving leaders and innovators the same caliber of storytelling, built on real reporting instincts rather than a marketing brief. That same instinct keeps him contributing directly to More Perfect Union, the Emmy Award winning advocacy newsroom, where he covers big tech, the environment, and government policy.

I first met Dan at a NextNW happy hour and was thrilled to find another news junkie in the room. The world of TV is small, and we played the "do you know" game longer than we probably should have, having both come up through CBS and Hearst Television. Dan also had some impressive stops of his own at ABC, CNN, Vice News, NowThis and NBC News.

Beyond editorial production, Dan and Storycast also run media training for CEOs and founders, a custom 2.5 hour program that's helped clients in direct to consumer tech, sustainable aviation fuel, and transportation land confidently on Bloomberg, CNBC, podcasts, and conference stages. If you've ever watched someone from the C-suite stumble through an interview, you know exactly why that training is mission critical to large organizations.

The impact speaks for itself. A Storycast story on data centers for More Perfect Union pulled in more than 3.5 million views on YouTube, and a separate documentary on data centers in Georgia, featuring Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, led directly to a Congressional inquiry and hearing on Capitol Hill. Not many agencies can point to that kind of reach. Storycast’s company profile videos, often produced at industry events and conferences, quickly become the video of choice for brands, quickly making their way to the company’s website landing page.

But talking with Dan doesn't leave you feeling weighed down by the state of the world. He sees information and storytelling as a way through the noise, not a reminder of it.

Dan joined NextNW to meet and celebrate fellow creatives and grow his network in his new home, and he's already all in on the events, coffee dates, and the people he's met. When he's not wearing his journalism hat, you'll find him exploring PNW waterfalls with his wife Maddy and their two dogs, Messi and Dusty.

Thanks for sharing your world with us, Dan!
